MAJORS AND MINORS
MAJOR
Elementary Education
The Education program at Fort Hays is ranked 12th in the nation. All professors have taught K-6 at some point in their life. 95% of their graduates from elementary education move on to receive a job. In the program, students will be taking a number of challenging course to get them prepared for dealing with future students. At the end of the program, FHSU has all their students complete student teaching at any school in the state! I think that it is a great opportunity because it allows you to be comfortable in the school district you choose.
MINOR
Psychology
With having Psychology as a minor, that will allow me to be able to connect with students better than some teachers can. It will also set me apart from others by having more experience. I will have an adviser that will also work with my education adviser to make sure I am meeting the correct requirements. Some of the Psych classes will be need as well in the Education program. Together, I believe that Elementary Education and Psychology is a perfect fit for me.
